About us

How the name of our barangay got its name are derived from major situations.

1. Geographical Location
2. Biological Abundance
3. What we have and are know for
4. Honor & Tribute to a rich and influencial person

This mountainous area had a few households before. A footpath and a carabao’s path which is called a “camino vicinal” connected the barrio to the main road H. Abellana. By the middle of the 1960’s during the incumbency of the late Mayor Demetrio M. Costes, a great change occurred during the short history of this isolated barrio. Heavy Equipment vehicles plowed their way on her mountainous terrain carving her out. To the delight of the early settlers, a new road was being constructed. Unpassable mountains were being carved and flattened. The place for quite some time had been carved and dug up and then carved again. The vernacular for carve or dig is cub-cub. So when the people who were asked where they’ve been or came from, they’d just replied, “dapit didto sa adunay nag cub-cub” or “Didto’s cubacuban”. (“Near from where the digging is, “ or “ From the diggings.”) From that time in the people referred to the place as cubacub (diggings) since that was the name that could be immediately be identifiable. That was how it got its name.
