About us

How the name of our barangay got its name are derived from major situations.

1. Geographical Location
2. Biological Abundance
3. What we have and are know for
4. Honor & Tribute to a rich and influencial person

This land area was once a part of poblacion. The area is situated at the northern part of the poblacion. A road passes by the area from the heart of the town up toward the tip of the island, the Municipality of Daanbantayan in the north. So when the people would go to the northern part of the publacion they would just say, “Mo adto ako sa Ibabaw ,” (I will go to the upper part.) Ibabao, meaning up, became a distinctive name apart from the Centro. The Middle part of the poblacion was then called Centro, while his part here was named Ibabao because the area it was situated was located up to the north. The people got used to the name after such time. Ibabao distinguished itself from Centro because both of them were located inside the poblacion.
