About us

How the name of our barangay got its name are derived from major situations.

1. Geographical Location
2. Biological Abundance
3. What we have and are know for
4. Honor & Tribute to a rich and influencial person

This place before was the center of recreation. This place was once a sitio of Barrio Basak. In the early years, the people’s way recreation was through cockfighting (sabung). Before Manduae Coliseum, Floremer and Revero, this barrio which is located to the far north of the Municipality was the center of cockfighting. Aside from that, cocks were also being sold there as well as agrivet supplies. The cockfighting venue then is now located near the house of Dr. Susana B. Cabahug. People from as far as Consolacion and from the central part of the municipality would trod along the Camino vicinal towards this place. So, what do they say when asked where they came from or where they were heading,”Pagsabungan,” or “the cockfighting venue.” So that was how simply it got its name. In the later years, through the efforts of the early leaders of their time, Sitio Pagsabungan broke away from Barrio Basak and created its own by the late 19670’s.
