| About us |
How the name of our barangay got its name are derived from major situations.
1. Geographical Location
2. Biological Abundance
3. What we have and are know for
4. Honor & Tribute to a rich and influencial person |
According to the stories handed down by our forefathers, Subangdaku came into existence due of an incident that happened one frolic morning in May. During that time, the jungle flowers were blooming with radiance and it was so abundant with loveliness that anyone would be attracted to such beauty. Well, who wouldn’t be, when you would smell the perfume of the flowers with every faint breeze blowing from the river through the trees and be enchanted with every flower with petals are wet with dew of the early morning.
On that very day, as a young man was wondering nearby, he was captivated by such grandeur. He kept on walking unnoticing he had already gone far, not until he happened to pass by a nipa hut whose surrounding was newly swept, by the daughter of the owner. It was only at this moment that he felt tire, considering the distance he walked. He asked permission to rest of a while under the shades of the mango tree. Whose roots were protruding from the ground forming like benches fitted for sitting.
A beautiful young maiden was standing by the window, combining her long black hair, inviting the young man to come upstairs to which he readily agreed. He was attracted and captivated by the beauty of the lady whose hair smelled the fragrance of kadlum, kisol and the samuyao commonly used as shampoo before. While the conversation went on, the beautiful lady asked where he came from, with a trembling voice the young man replied that he came from a sub â nga daku (big river). The lady who was curious enough asked the young man how big was the sub â nga daku really was. The young man replied that it was the biggest river that he has seen so far in his life. Thus the barrio SUBANGDAKU came into existence. |
